Program Coordinator
Berna Sanow (she/hers)

Born in South Dakota and raised in Owasso, Berna has spent her adult years residing in Tulsa. A non-traditional student, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Northeastern State University in 2019. Berna has been employed at The University of Tulsa’s McFarlin Library since 2021, where she works with student staff in running the Circulation department. A fierce believer that books are tools for fostering understanding, eliciting self-discovery, and sharpening one’s capacity for empathy, Berna recently started volunteering at the Nancy & Joe McDonald Rainbow Library located at the Dennis R. Neill Equality Center to help combat the censorship of LGBTQIA+ voices that is happening across local school libraries. Berna spends her free time hanging out with her squirrel-obsessed fur daughter Choco, searching for treasures thrifting, and perpetually preparing for Halloween.
