Witnessing Whiteness
Witnessing Whiteness is a 9-month program designed to engage white people in:
- critically examining racism,
- exploring what it means to be an anti-racist white ally, and
- developing tools needed for the elimination of racism.
A supplement to multiracial anti-racist partnerships, the program is designed to provide a safe space for white people to take responsibility for learning about racism and to work together to build a white anti-racist culture throughout our community.
For more about the importance of a white-only space in racial justice work, visit AWARE-LA’s “But Why a White Space?“. For more about the book, visit author Shelly Tochluk’s website.
The group will begin in the Spring 2012 semester. For more information about this Witnessing Whiteness discussion group, contact Nancy at nancy-eggen@utulsa.edu.
